Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in November 1986, Ben Rector is an American record singer, musician, and songwriter based in Nashville, Tennessee. As a child, he took piano lessons but never took an interest in music until high school where he picked up a guitar. It led him to begin a profession in songwriting. As a first year at the University of Arkansas, he released a self-titled EP. The EP featured the song ‘Conversation’ that won the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in the Pop category in the year 2006. That award made him the youngest musician to ever win the pop category award. In 2007, Rector released his first album ‘Twenty Tomorrow.’ Two years later, Rector was recognized as the best male singer-songwriter in Northwest Arkansas and awarded with the Northwest Arkansas Music Award. In mid-2009, Rector moved to Nashville to pursue his music career. ‘In the Morning’ is Rector’s third studio album that was released in February 2010. The release became number 11 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers chart. The success of the album made him co-headline the ‘Three Amigos Tour’ with fellow artists. 2011 was also another successful year for Rector where he released ‘something like this’ and co-produced ‘Watching Time Run.’ Following the release, Rector headlined the ‘Good Time Tour’ which ran across 25 cities. Rector released ‘The Walking in Between’ album in August 2013 that made him headline and tour through 2 countries; Canada and United States and 32 cities from 2013 to 2015. The tour had sold out dates in many of those cities. His four backing band members helped him tour the cities during the 2-year period. ‘Brand New and Magic’ is the sixth studio album that was released by Rector on August 2015. The album made its biggest sales to date and debuted among the top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart, Billboard Top Current Rock Albums chart, and many other Billboard competitions. Rector’s latest record ‘Magic’ was released in June 2018 with two new singles.
